I saw a post on X which says "control your lust & you'll understand how boring 90% of women are." What do you think about it? Do you agree or disagree? Why?

Sturgeon’s Law (“ninety percent of everything is crap”) applies to people just as much as it applies to entertainment or anything else. You don’t need to shut off your lust to figure that out.

Okay, so. I have a reasonably active sex life. I am quite fond of lust, and tend to spend rather a lot of time on pursuits related to lust.

And I agree without reservation that the vast majority of people, men and women both, are actually pretty boring.

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?

Throughout my life, I’ve declined more offers of sex than I’ve accepted. Someone needs to be pretty extraordinary for me to want to have sex with her.
